The SPGA/Seattle Chapter of the Graphic Artists Guild is seeking a chapter administrator.
WThe Graphic Artists Guild promotes and protects the economic interests of its members. It is committed to improving conditions for all creators of graphic art and raising standards for the entire industry. The Guild is a national union that embraces creators at all level of skill and expertise who produce graphic art intended for presentation as originals or reproduction.
WThis is an excellent opportunity for those who want to be involved is the Pacific Northwest Graphic Arts community, and those who are seeking experience with union organization.
WThis is a part-time position of 15hours a month, ($187.50 a month)

Job Title:  Chapter Administrator
Reports to: Individual Chapter Board/President and the Guild’s Executive/Administrative Director

General Duties and Obligations:

a. The Chapter Administrator conducts the business of the Chapter, under the direction of the Guild’s Executive and/or Administrative Director, in full accordance with federal (national), state (provincial), and local laws and the constitution, by-laws, resolutions, and directives of the Graphic Artists Guild and its International Office as well as directives of the local Chapter.

b. The Administrator, thoroughly and promptly, fulfills all record-keeping and reporting requirements made of Chapters by the International Office.

c. The Administrator serves the Chapter in performance of duties at the direction of the Chapter Board of Directors and its President.

d. It shall be the duty of the Administrator to attend all meetings of the Chapter's Board of Directors. (generally once a month, lasting an 1.5 hours)

Specific Duties:

Chapter Administrator – Day-to-day supervision and direction by Chapter President/Board.This is considered a part-time, contract position. Hours will differ depending on chapter. Minimum monthly hours is 14; maximum monthly hours is 15.

  • Chapter Development - nurture, teach, and cultivate chapter members. Establish and maintain effective relationships, through all means possible, to develop new chapter leaders, to welcome new members, to increase chapter member retention, and deliver membership services.
  • Assign/ask potential volunteer leaders tasks and/or projects to assess whether they would satisfactorily be able to sit on the chapter Board.
  • Function as primary chapter liaison to internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain chapter membership database.
  • Answer inquiries and make referrals.
  • Coordinate the election process for chapter officers/board. (held yearly)
  • Coordinate chapter events as directed by chapter board/president.
  • Prepare and file chapter administrative reports.
  • Work with the chapter treasurer to assure the chapter remains solvent and the budget is maintained. Assist in development of Quarterly Reports to Guild office
  • Coordinate and direct special chapter projects and act as day-to-day liaison with the Guild office on behalf of the Chapter.
  • Submit a bi-weekly administrator report to the Guild’s office.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Guild’s Executive/Administrative Director, Chapter Executive Committee, and Chapter Board.
  • Attend bi-monthly phone conferences with Guild’s Executive/Administrative Director.

•            Distribute postcard to key Seattle locations (Requires Vehicle).

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.Familiarity with issues facing the graphic arts industry.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of team.
  • Handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Possess initiative and drive to accomplish the goals and tasks assigned.
